GE WattStation™ Electric Vehicle Charging Station

The GE WattStation™ Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station is a fast, easy-to-use and awardwinning
charging solution for residential, industrial and commercial applications.

GE WattStation™ was recently named PC World’s “2011 Best of Innovations Honoree,”
Electrical Contractor magazine’s “NECA Showstopper 2010,” and was named one of The Huffington Post’s “CES 2011: 15 Awesome Products From the Future.” These recognitions are based on revolutionary design and functionality.

GE WattStation™ is ideal for rental EV car fleets; municipal governments’ light vehicles, such as those used to pick up products for recycling; and for hotel chains wishing to add customer value.

GE WattStation™ charges electric vehicles in just four to eight hours. The commercial unit stands 47.5 inches tall, features an 8-inch diameter cylinder and has a 14-inch diameter face.
The wall-mountable residential unit is 25.4 inches tall, 15.6 inches wide and 5.6 inches deep.

A component of the EV infrastructure, GE WattStation™ addresses electrical grid challenges by significantly decreasing time needed for vehicle charging. GE WattStation™ works seamlessly within the EV ecosystem, uses smart-grid technologies to enable utility companies to manage the impact that electric vehicles have on local and regional grids and provides the consumer with a viable, end-to-end solution.

GE owns one of the world’s largest fleets, operates a leading global fleet management business, and offers a portfolio of product solutions including GE WattStation™, circuit protection equipment and transformers that touch every part of the electric vehicle infrastructure development. This enables GE to lead wide-scale electric vehicle adoption and generate growth for its businesses.

GE recently announced it would purchase 25,000 electric vehicles by 2015 for its own fleet and through its Capital Fleet Services business – the largest-ever single electric vehicle commitment. GE will convert at least half of its 30,000 global fleet and will partner with fleet customers to deploy a total of 25,000 electric vehicles by 2015. GE will initially purchase 12,000 GM vehicles, beginning with the Chevrolet Volt in 2011, and will add other vehicles as manufacturers expand their electric vehicle portfolios. For every 10,000 gas-powered car users who switch to EVs, CO2 emissions would be reduced by 33,000 metric tons per year equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions of 6,500 traditional cars on U.S. roads.

Innovation is a tradition at GE. For more than 100 years GE has built and serviced infrastructure to optimize energy generation and use. The development of this nextgeneration technology with GE reliability was a natural progression.
